Within the Caparol Group environmental protection has traditionally played an important role.

The production plants have been brought up to the latest state environmentally with a high level of investment, ensuring that environmental protection begins right at the production process.

For example, at the company headquarters in Ober-Ramstadt a computer-controlled process control system ensures that waste water is almost completely avoided in production.
Filter systems trap dust and pass it back into the production process.

At the same time the quantities of waste from production are being substantially reduced. In the period from 1995 to 2002 a reduction in waste of approximately 29% was realised and the proportion of recyclable production residues increased by 25%. Along with taking care of the environment with regard to water protection and maintaining clean air, all legal requirements in terms of noise avoidance are fulfilled.

For the sites of Ober-Ramstadt, Fürstenwalde, Köthen and Nerchau the determination of environmental effects is an important constituent part of the integrated management system, IMS.

Since October 2003 these sites have been officially certified to DIN EN ISO 14001, an international standard for environmental management. In this way the company commits itself to conforming to the applicable regulations and laws with regard to environmental protection.

Simultaneously, Caparol assumes responsibility for continual improvements to environmental protection with targeted preventive measures.
