GREEN STALKS, DARK THERMAL INSULATION
KINDERGARTEN, SIGHARTSTEIN (AUSTRIA)
| A newly constructed kindergarten of a special type now stands in Sighartstein, a district of Neumarkt am Wallersee. Like blades of grass in a summer meadow – this effect is presented by the "stalks" of the facade curtain mesh, which conceals the kindergarten "nest". The dark, carbon-fibre reinforced render contrasts effectively with the bright green of the stalks and emphasises their intermediary function between the inner and outer worlds. The trouble-free application of dark paints to the thermally insulating facade is a new innovation and also a pilot project: The full thermal protection provided here with carbon absorbs the forces arising during temperature variations and prevents cracks forming. For the designer this produces completely new possibilities for colours – along with the best energy efficiency. |
