Core capabilities Core capabilities
The Caparol Group regards itself as an innovative supplier of products and services, the purpose of which is to design, protect and maintain the values of living space. The national and international success of the Caparol Group is above all based on three core capabilities:

1. Quality

The Caparol Group is the undisputed leader in quality and innovation within the sector.

Since its foundation, it has been the declared company strategy to always set uncompromising quality standards in the sector with respect to environmentally friendly and non-noxious top products. The first national product award in 1894 marked the initial success of this strategy which later also led to the internationally significant introduction of modern dispersion paint technology in 1936 ("Caparol Oil-Free Paste") and of emission-minimised and solvent-free paints in 1985 ("Indeko-Plus E.S.F.").

To be able to justify the claim to be a pioneering company also in the future, we put extra emphasis on our scientific and application-orientated research and development and in addition co-operate with renowned suppliers and institutions.

The quality of our products can in this regard always only be so good as its proper application by our customers. Consequently, we greatly value comprehensive training and consultancy for our customers. For this purpose in the professional sector of the field we maintain the largest outside sales force whose specialist expertise, reliability and customer proximity is recognised by all involved. In addition, we annually train many thousands of customers in theoretical and practical aspects. Comprehensive technical documentation, specialist consultants and application technologists along with telephone support are also available to our industrial customers and the end users.

Being quality leader for us does not just mean developing and marketing innovative and high performance quality products, but rather also implementing manufacturing techniques which conserve resources and are environmentally friendly. As a result, our production sites represent the latest state of the art and are extensively certified. Based on demanding internal and external standards, the quality of the raw materials used here and of the manufactured products is monitored continually and critically. Also special importance is given to occupational safety for our employees and it is significantly above the average for the sector.

2. Width of the product range

The expertise of the Caparol Group is based on more than 110 years of experience in the development and production of paints of the highest quality. In the course of time we have carefully and successfully transferred this extensive product knowledge to related product areas.

The Caparol Group offers the professional the widest selection in the sector, which extends from primers, paints, renders/plasters, filler pastes and enamels through glazes, building protection coatings, facade and insulation systems, wall coverings and decorative products as well as special products, such as for example natural stone slabs. Together with the supplementary ranges of the associated trade wholesalers, the professional user will not find anywhere else such a comprehensive problem solving expertise.

Apart from the product range mentioned, the Caparol Group also offers industrial customers numerous tailor-made special products, such as for example industrial enamels, colour pastes for printing dyes and for plastics, products for prefabricated houses and facade insulation systems which are especially suitable ecologically.

For the private end user the Caparol Group has a high quality range of paints, enamels, glazes, decorative products and special products under the brand name "Alpina", with which practically all coating requirements in the private sector can be easily fulfilled in an environmentally friendly manner which is harmless to health.

3. Design expertise

In our opinion the styled combination of colour and material is gaining ever more importance. The Caparol Group is active in this growth segment through a contemporary, unbeatable, versatile, colour tinting spectrum of materials for facades and interiors. Apart from classical paints and enamels, materials such as casting resin, decorative renders/plasters or wall coverings are available, as are material surfaces, for example, natural stone, glass, fibre cement and flat facings.

In order that this range of services reaches the customers quickly, we have been pushing on with the national and international expansion of our decentralised tinting technology, ColorExpress. With the aid of the latest mixing machines, along with the company's own data base of over one million recipes, individual colour tinting requirements can also be met locally in a few seconds, irrespective of whether facade paints, interior paints, external renders/plasters, floor coverings, concrete coatings, enamels or glazes are involved.

We support our customers in their design work through numerous services.

In our colour design studio architects, interior designers and colour designers draw up individual colour concepts for private and public living spaces. Their experience, expert knowledge and the results of our trend research here not only flow into the on-going developments of our products, but rather also into our various colour collections which give our customers dependability and inspire design for conceptual colour planning.

Our modern design tool, the Spectrum CD-ROM, for the daily routine follows this same purpose. This colour design and styling program helps all those working on the design, colours and surfaces in architecture to quickly and reliably use the complete range from the world of Caparol colours and surfaces and to display them on properties in a way which is extremely true to real life. For end customers we offer the design program Alpina Color Designer in the Internet.

The significance of the interaction of colour and material was the motivation for Caparol awarding for the first time the architecture prize "Colour - Structure - Surface" in 2004. The objective of this high calibre nominated competition is to hold a constructive dialogue with planners, architects and designers to stimulate new and creative solutions in architectonic work through the discussion and on-going development of this subject field.
